15 things you can do for International Day of Peace

15th July 2016

On September 16, 2016, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will again ring the Peace Bell (9 am EDT) at UN Headquarters in New York calling for a 24-hour cessation of hostilities, and for a minute of silence to be observed around the world.

We would love for you to join the Billion Acts global movement, and create an #ActofPeace between now and September 26th, to help us reach 15 Million Acts of Peace by the end of our #SummerofPeace campaign celebrating International Day of Peace.

Here are examples of a simple #ActofPeace you could add to

  1. Create an event to observe a minute of silence with friends for International Day of Peace.
  2. Construct a Peace Pole.
  3. Host a multi-cultural event in your area that brings people of different backgrounds together.
  4. Plan a peace walk for a hero in your community.
  5. Hold a peace vigil and light a candle with some friends or neighbors.
  6. Send a donation to an organization that you think is helping create more peace in the world.
  7. Write a song for peace; worlds largest music competition for peace.
  8. Make peace with someone you have a conflict with today.
  9. Support grassroots movements near you.
  10. Sign up for the Global Unity Games.
  11. Imagine something you could do to help make for a more peaceful world… and do it.
  12. Attend an International Peace Day Event.
  13. Sign a Petition for Peace.
  14. Participate in 11 Days of Global Unity.
  15. Plant a tree for peace.
